We at the University of Pennsylvania Library are building a digital library that we hope will revolutionize the way people work, learn, create, and collaborate. To build this library, we are constantly researching, developing, and adapting new digital library technology to serve our users.
Goals of our digital library activities
Our primary goals are:
  • Provide digital information that our users can use effectively
  • Help our users find and obtain the information they need
  • Support teaching and research with information technology
  • Work to improve the scholarly communications process
  • Preserve our knowledge resources
Means to these ends include:
  • Build and maintain a robust library infrastructure
  • Determine our users' needs and use of information and technology
  • Research and develop innovative technology and systems
  • Build alliances with colleagues inside and outside the university
Our efforts focus on these areas:
Foundations Building sustainable, reusable infrastructure for maintaining digital resources, and preserving them over the long term.
