Xerox's TextBridge98 claims to be the best, and it works OK for me. It's
also cheaper than the only competition I know of, "OmniPage".
My only gripe is that trying to scan and OCR at once causes it to crash
sometimes. That could be my Scanner though. Scanning into temp files,
then OCR'ing in batches was much more reliable (at least it was under
TextBridge Pro, the previous version).
The new TextBridge 98 does seem to have a lot more flexibility in
handling pages with funny layouts, as well as having better accuracy in
recognition than TextBridge Pro.
Pricing is very odd, as it seems cheaper to buy it bundled with
something called Pagis than to buy it by itself.
